Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last couple of months then you should know that Toy Tactics is this rather unique and rather fun RTS game where you… pretty much draw your armies on the map and send your minifig troops into combat. You might be the commander but with the added privilege of having the ability to pause the game you are drawing out strategies and watching your tiny army in action fighting against skeleton dinosaurs, samurais and a whole lot of crazy characters. It’s real time strategy with a touch of tact, and the feeling of playing with action figures but so much cooler and less toy-like.

The concept is reminiscent of minifigures, those mini-sized soldiers people used to use in replaying scenes of war to children but in this case, the arenas of war are Tortuga ravaged by pirates or Samurai dominated feudal Japan. And finally physics based, this means when your two little warriors meet, helmets fly, structures collapse and one has the full view of the mayhem. It’s like watching your childhood battle fantasies come to life as real but now it is equipped with some strategy.

But here’s where things get wild: together with the spells and relics you have got in the game it makes it easier to have some of these things changed at times. If things become unfavorable, one can bomb one’s enemies, instantly repair the army, or bring in back up. The spell system allow you to add a lot of variance to your tactics and each campaign tests you in different ways including some strong bosses. Moreover, you will have a variety of options for the game modes. Such as puzzles and sandbox which will give you more reasons to play the game.
