Okay so there a little indie horror game called “Backward Poiesis” and it was super trippy. From what I understand, a Japanese student created it and all of the footage was real found footage so that just adds to eeriness. This guy — we’ ll call him Mr. A ( not his real name, natch) — moves into a house and stumbles across an abandoned video camera… Interested, he flicks it on and bam: there is a bunch of these strange, unexplained videos arguably giving off serious horror movie overtones.

The gameplay is that of a walking simulator, but with the horror twist. Effectively, you have an opportunity to watch the footage as if you are him with a camera attached and all of this weird shit he found. What makes it stand out All of it is based on real interviews and footage, brought to life in the game with UnrealEngine 5 — an engine made for movies! Right, so yeah; it looks absolutely photo-realistic in every way with all the little textures etc. You may also interested in this game Perfect Teams.

The footage is eerily just wandering around blank rooms with no context of what or why this was shot. It — REMINDS me of SPACE L I M I N A LAND B ACKROOFroms IF anyone’s into that stuff. Even the author doesn’t fully understand what happened in Mr. A’s story, and somehow that makes it even more intriguing.). The remaining minute of this Sisyphean ordeal is spent determining what really happened matching up the video to Mr.A’s concise comments. Creepy, right?
